Overview of the ProgramOver the course of the program, fellows will gain meaningful, hands-on real experience managing our core business data sources, dashboards and reports. The program will provide regular opportunities for professional development, exposure to organizational leadership and the ability to develop skills vital to the Fellow’s future career growth. In addition, the Fellow will create a capstone project presented at the end of the program. This is an on-site position, working out of the University of Kansas Training Center in Riverside, Missouri. The Fellow is expected to commit to the entire duration of the program. Program Length: May 2025 – December 2025 *Participation in the program does not imply or guarantee full-time employment with the Kansas City Current upon program completion.Who are we hiring? Our Data & Analytics Fellowship is designed to provide aspiring data professionals with hands-on experience, mentorship, and exposure to real-world analytics challenges. We are looking for individuals who are eager to deepen their knowledge and experience in data and analytics. Ideal candidates should have: A background in statistics, mathematics, computer science, economics, or a related field.
- Experience with data analysis tools such as SQL, Python, R, or similar.
- Familiarity with data visualization tools like Tableau, Power BI, or Looker.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
**What will you do?**Core Business ReportingThe Fellow will be responsible for maintaining and improving all our Core Business Data Sources, Pipelines and Dashboards:* Ticketing
- Parking
- Customer Data
- Merchandise and Retail
- Food and Beverage
- League Reporting
- Executive Reporting
Project RequirementAs part of the fellowship, the fellow will be required to complete a data-driven project that aligns with business objectives and demonstrates analytical problem-solving skills. The project proposal must be submitted for approval by the Vice President, Data Strategy & Analytics before execution. Fellows will be expected to:* Identify a key business challenge that can be addressed through data analytics
- Develop a structured approach using data collection, analysis, and visualization techniques
- Document the needed pipelines, dashboards and reports
- Present findings and recommendations to stakeholders at the conclusion of the fellowship

What do you need to succeed? Education and Experience* Bachelor’s degree in statistics, mathematics, computer science, economics, or a related field
- Pursuant or completion of a Masters Degree (preferred)
Technical Skills* Ability to extract insights from structured and unstructured data.
- Proficiency in Python, R, or SQL for data manipulation and analysis.
- Experience with tools like Tableau, Power BI, or Looker to create compelling dashboards and reports.
- Basic understanding of predictive modeling, regression analysis, and clustering (Optional).
- Familiarity with relational databases and querying data efficiently.
Soft Skills* Ability to assess data objectively, identify patterns, and generate meaningful insights.
- Aptitude for breaking down complex data challenges and providing actionable solutions.
- Ability to translate data findings into clear, non-technical language for stakeholders.
- Willingness to work across departments and contribute to team success.
- Enthusiasm for exploring new tools, techniques, and industry trends.

Special requirements of the Job:* Must be able to work a flexible schedule, inclusive of weekends, nights (event evenings & overnight operation shifts) and holidays.
- Ability to work on-site located at the KC Current Training Facility in Riverside Missouri
- Ability to monitor company communications and respond to time sensitive matters with senior executives.
- Ability to sit for extended periods of time.
